Where did the name breve come from? How about steve?

The names breve and steve predate the actual construction of the current iteration breve by a couple of years. They were used as working-names and test project names for different aspects of the software as the idea for the project evolved. Both names are therefore somewhat fanciful nicknames which stuck as the concept was being developed into a real piece of software.

The name breve comes from the drink of the same name made with espresso and cream. In particular, from the fluid behaviors when cream is slowly poured into espresso.

The name steve is somewhat arbitrary, but was a token of respect for a triumvirate of "geeks named steve", namely Jobs, Albini and Sidwell.
