Evolving Flocks
Lee Spector and Jon Klein (the author of breve) at Hampshire College are using breve to study flocks of evolving agents.
Similar to the "Swarm" demo included with breve, they've built a world in which the flocking agents evolve different strategies of capturing food sources. breve's visualization plays an important role in the discovery process—several different interesting behaviors have been discovered visually which may have otherwise gone unnoticed. A paper on the research won the Best Paper Award in the AAAA track (A-Life, Adaptive Behavior, Agents and Ant Colony Optimization) at GECCO-2003.
